Church Life Commission

For More Information, please contact Kathy Sparda at 883-1742.

Purpose: To develop stronger bonds within the parish and to make Jesus Christ the center of all activities within the community of St. Maximilian Kolbe.  Good communication between commission, parishioners, and the Scarborough community at large will be centered around love, trust, and truth and will be imperative in building a strong community at St. Maximilian Kolbe that is truly welcoming to all.  Commission goals are as follows:  Community Spirit: To assist in making the parish a community in which persons can come to know one another, to share their lives and concerns and to find support for their faith.  Communication: To ensure good communication among all groups in the parish and to provide effective publicity for parish events.  Ecumenism: to initiate and support the growth of mutual understanding and common action among different faiths.  Reaching Out: To maintain active programs of reaching out to non-practicing Catholics and the un-churched.

Responsibilities:

Community Spirit – To assist in making the parish a community in which persons can come to know one another, to share their lives and concerns, and to find support for their faith.

Communication – To ensure good communication among all groups in the parish and to provide effective publicity for parish events.

Ecumenism – To initiate and support the growth of mutual understanding and common action among different faiths.

Reaching Out – To maintain active programs of reaching out to non-practicing Catholics and the un-churched.

Church Life Function: Goal isn’t to form another committee that puts together events.  The function of Church Life is to coordinate events developed within other commissions and encourage involvement among people who have specific gifts for the event.  The Church Life committee will be comprised, for the most part,  of individuals who already serve on other commissions – they will become liaisons to Church Life – and thus will ensure that events are communicated and promoted to the community at large.  For the most part, events sponsored by Church Life will be Co-Sponsored by other Commissions.  Church Life will brainstorm on parish activities that target needs of specific groups, ways to get more parishioners involved, and present ideas to other commissions – but essentially our function is to support, coordinate, communicate, and promote activities that are developed within other commissions.
